Meeting Minutes

General Description
The Existing Buildings Committee works on issues related to the evaluation and retrofit of existing buildings. Together with the SEAOC Existing Buildings Committee, we provide reviews and commentaries on guidelines, codes, and standards (such as ASCE 31, FEMA 356, CBC Division VI-R, and the IEBC), and we work with local jurisdictions on policies regarding existing structures. Currently, we have active subcommittees addressing the following topics:

·
Building code retrofit triggers & criteria (IEBC, CBC, etc.)

·         Pre-Northridge welded steel moment frames (FEMA 351 & 352)

·         Prescriptive cripple wall retrofit (IEBC Appendix A3)

·         Soft story residential buildings (IEBC Appendix A4)

·         Non-ductile concrete frames (IEBC Appendix A5)

·         Hillside houses (LABC Ch 94)
