Study Group Study Sessions

There are two evening study group sessions for engineers to meet and study together. The first study session concentrates on the 8-hour national civil engineering exam and the second study session focuses on the California Seismic Principles and Surveying exams.

YMF Presents

YMF hosts quarterly seminars to introduce young members to the different SEAONC committees. At each seminar, a committee chair gives a presentation of the work done by his or her committee. In lieu of a committee presentation, a technical seminar may be given to teach a design topic to young and new engineers.

ARE 4.0 Tutoring

Structural Engineers Association of Northern California - Young Members Forum (SEAONC’s YMF) has set up sessions for ARE Tutoring - open to all architects going through the AREStructures process.   A group of structural engineers has offered their time to tutor those architects studying for their licensing exams that may have questions. We provide free tutoring for the lateral and general portions of the ARE in a 2-hour group session every two weeks to answer questions and go over practice problems. The meetings are held at the engineering office of ARUP located at 560 Mission Street, Suite 700; San Francisco. The ARE Committee has supplied these Engineers with the current Structures Packets, so they have an idea as to what is required by the exams, as well as what is being taught.  Our goal is to provide extra help to those needing more specific instruction to be able to pass the Structures exams.

Please RSVP to Bethany Jones (bjones@nishkian.com) or Susie Cho (susie.cho@arup.com) if you are an architect interested in being a part of this exciting new way to help pass the Structures ARE and become licensed!! Come and join us! See the upcoming dates below:

If you are an engineer and would like to help tutor, please email Bethany Jones (bjones@nishkian.com) or Susie Cho (susie.cho@arup.com) for more information.
