PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

YMF offers a number of programs to aid the professional development of young members. There is an extensive Professional Engineers (PE) Exam Preparation program. YMF also hosts a number of seminars and the New Member Orientation to introduce young members to the other committees of SEAONC.

PE Exam Preparation

YMF offers the following to help members prepare for the Professional Engineers Exam.

1. Information Meetings twice a year before the April and October exams.
2. Study Group Contact List
3. PE Study Group Sessions

PE Information Meeting

Engineers who are preparing to take the PE exam can attend the PE Information Meeting to learn more about the exam and get tips about how to prepare for the exam from a panel of past test-takers.

SE Exam Information and Preparation Meetings

Engineers who are preparing to take the SE exam can attend the SE Information Meeting to learn more about the exam and get tips about how to prepare for the exam from a panel of past test-takers.

LEED AP Exam Information

Engineers who are preparing to take the LEED AP exam can attend the LEED AP Information Meeting to learn more about the exam and get tips about how to prepare for the exam from a panel of past test-takers.

Study Group Contact List

YMF compiles and distributes a contact list of engineers who are preparing for the upcoming exam and are interested in joining a study group.

Study Group Study Sessions

There are two evening study group sessions for engineers to meet and study together. The first study session concentrates on the 8-hour national civil engineering exam and the second study session focuses on the California Seismic Principles and Surveying exams.

YMF Presents

YMF hosts quarterly seminars to introduce young members to the different SEAONC committees. At each seminar, a committee chair gives a presentation of the work done by his or her committee. In lieu of a committee presentation, a technical seminar may be given to teach a design topic to young and new engineers.

New Member Orientation

The New Members Orientation occurs annually at the social hour of a SEAONC Dinner Meeting. Committee chairs are present to meet new members and give information about their committees.
