* SEAONC Dinner Meeting: San Francisco State University Student Night – May 6th!
*Please come and join us at this May's SEAONC Dinner Meeting to help welcome SFSU students to the City Club and SEAONC. SFSU Student Night is an event to help introduce students to structural engineering. Students will participate in an office visit where they will be able to see learn about the office environment and about the types of projects that engineers work on. This will be followed by a dinner meeting where students can meet people in the field of structural engineering as well as learning about what issues that concern structural engineers. SFSU students should RSVP to Tim Le at letim@pbworld.com by 11:00am Thursday, May 1st. All others should RSVP to the SEAONC office's email invitation to the dinner meeting in the normal manner (by noon, Thursday, May 1st).

YMF is excited to give you a glimpse of what our young colleagues in academia are up to. Dimitrios Lignos, Xiang "Shawn" Ma, and Kristen Parrish will present their current research to us. Come mingle with your fellow young engineers and check out what's new in collapse modeling, ductile steel component testing, and collaborative design methods. Dinner will be provided. * YMF Annual Battle of the Bay Baseball Game – Friday June 13th!
SEAONC-YMF's annual baseball game this year will be Friday, June 13 at 7 P.M., the Oakland A's at the San Francisco Giants. E-mail Zach Satt at zsatt@yahoo.com for tickets ($10 for SEAONC members, $30 for non-members). Each SEAONC member may RSVP for a maximum of 5 seats while seats remain. After receiving your RSVP, Zach will contact you with details and payment logistics. See you at the game.

You HAVE to eat, so why not get out of the office and shoot the breeze with your peers? Wednesday May 7th, and continuing on the first Wednesday of every month, all young engineers are invited to meet for lunch at 12:30pm at the tables on the bottom level of Crocker Galleria (50 Post @ Montgomery, SF). No agenda. 100% informal. Bring your own lunch. It's kind of like Fight Club, except that there is no violence, the location is disclosed, and you can talk about it. You are highly encouraged to bring a friend or co-worker.

YMF Spotlight is a monthly article, highlighting some of the talented young personalities that characterize the SEAONC community. If you would like to nominate a young engineer with an interesting perspective to share, please email ChrisOng at ong@dasse.com. Please include the name of the engineer you wish featured and any interesting information that would showcase his or her achievements, on and off the job.
